As 2021 begins, students are ready to begin a brand new semester and reflect on their experience with virtual schooling. But for many students, this past year was full of trials and tribulations. It is safe to say that in 2021, most students aren’t doing well with a quarantined school, from learning the ins and outs of online schools to managing the balance between academics and work.
As protests have been sweeping the nation and have taken over the world, a lot of teenagers have been very saddened at the fact that they can’t participate in protests or donate money to organizations that they support. So we are here to talk about what students can do about this polarizing issue.
This group chat took Philadelphia students by storm for its sexist and racist comments. This group chat blew up on a Masterman and Central Black support page and got the principals of said schools and the superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia involved. Some Masterman and Central male students said really sexist, racist, homophobic, and transphobic things on Instagram. As news got around, principals from both Masterman and Central released a statement showing their concern for the comments.
