Sunset

Hints of
Pink blue yellow orange purple
Floating across the sky
Like pieces of cotton candy
Escaping from the toddler’s greedy little mouth

Whiffs of
Barbeque, salty waves, sweat
Preserving through moving bodies
That gracefully sway to the sound
Of the tide

Echoes of
Laughter and chatter
That blend in with the mellow tunes
Streaming like a river
From an obsolete record player

Glimpses of
Tiny boats bobbing up and down
Alongside the radiant slice of sun
As it slowly but surely
Disappears beneath the horizon

Feelings of
Love lust satisfaction tranquility lethargy
Steadily settling on the relaxed shoulders
Of the families, friends, soulmates
As they leave the white sand and dark waves behind
